- After the past few weeks, I can completely understand how prairie dirt storms a century ago could drive folks insane. The incessant sound of the wind blowing the dirt is awful. I can’t imagine sitting in a clap-board house with no white noise from a radio or tv, just the blowing of the dirt hour after hour. Again, proving that we are lessers compared to the men and women of the early 1900s through the Greatest American Generation. We are soft.
