Brought to you each week by Shropshire Insurance of Texas. Based in Lubbock, big enough for the whole Great State of Texas. Shropshire is Independent, just like you and just like America. Give Jeff and his staff a call this week and let them get to work on your insurance needs. Tell them thanks for being a huge part of all we do in Raiderland!

5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. There’s no wrong way to do a hot dog. Well, that might not be true, but we’ll go with that for now. Your America 250 Hot Dog Power Rankings are as follows. #3. The Chicago Dog. Done right ( hi there Portillo’s) it’s a fresh and tasty treat. #2. The basic American Chili Cheese Dog. It’s messy and it’s great to use your fries to sop us what’s left over. The cheese is the key. Old Arlington Stadium nacho cheese is the best. #1. An elegantly simple Hot Dog with spicy mustard and sauerkraut. A staple from the street vendors and ballparks of old. If the Hot Dog is the Most American Food, here’s our Top Dogs!
  2. My favorite Fireworks Show is watching little kids run around like crazy with sparklers. Their own little world of fun, fire and excitement. Least favorite? Teenagers with bottle rockets!
  3. Fact. The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs Challenge has jumped the shark. Joey Chestnut has killed it by destroying the competition now for 18 wins. At this point, no need to have the other contestants up there. Just have Chestnut by himself and see if he can beat his old record. For the good of the Sport, Chestnut must retire. It’s the death of an American Summer Classic playing out in real-time. Do it for America Joey. There’s always hot-wings.
  4. If you get beat down with life, tired of the pace and the traffic and just being surrounded by hundreds of thousands or even millions of of beat-down souls, you need to get out of the city this Summer. Go to a small town. Find a little festival or something. Anything. You’d be surprised to find out that in Small Town America, folks are pretty happy with life and America. That they can relax and have fun without corporate sponsorships and commercialized events. Just folks hanging out and visiting and sharing a common bond. The 4th of July Parade and Street Vendors Saturday morning in Ropesville, Texas was a perfect example. Go find your Ropesville, Texas this Summer. It will help change how you feel about life and people.
  5. Ya know how you felt yesterday? You know that soaring pride you had as an American? You can feel that way every day. You can act like you did Saturday every day of the year. And for years to come. Get back into the habit of celebrating American Exceptionalism and Values and you’ll find that others will come right along with you. Embrace that feeling. It’s called Freedom.
