5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. Overheard: Your best ability is your availability. I’m convinced a lot of what little I may have accomplished in life is simply a product of showing up. Of being available to do something someone else couldn’t, wouldn’t or didn’t. Now more than ever, folks who show up will stand out. Tell your kids that and they’ll do great things going forward.
  2. I’ve never had fried bacon wrapped pickles and jalapeƱos, but I intend to rectify that situation soon. Thank you Ree Drummond.
  3. Top 3 Overrated Meals: No. 3. The Chalupa. Get a taco. Get an enchilada. Get fajitas. Get anything else. It’s a waste of time and effort for a do-nothing item. Taking up space on menus every where. No.2. Spaghetti. So many better Italian options from the pasta family alone. Should only be on Kid’s Menu and in small portions so as not to waste great pasta. No. 1. Brisket. Yep. We said it. Brisket. Stay with me here. Most of the brisket you end up eating isn’t very good. It’s almost always poorly cooked, rushed and done with cheap meat. You end up chewing on some and then telling yourself it’s not as good as what you cook. And you’re probably right. So many other great meat options out there waiting for your to dine one. Skip the brisket when you’re out and get some sausage instead. You’ll thank me later.
  4. I’m not a paid endorser, but that Blue Emu stuff may actually work. Using it on my elbow. Pain getting better. How did I hurt my left elbow? I have no idea. Woke up Old one day. I have more liniment bottles and achy muscle cream things than I do beer in the house. Paradigm shift.
  5. I firmly believe all great thinkers and doers make use of Post-It Notes. Why put something into my phone when I can write it on a Post-It and stick it on a computer monitor on my desk that no longer works, but is now a Post-It Bulletin Board. . . I cannot be the only one.
