5 Things We Know On A Sunday
- Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right. I’m pretty sure this is talking about eating asparagus. Or maybe pineapple and ham pizza. Could be both.
- I’m alway proud of our son. He’s a good, hard-working young man in a world that sadly sees less and less of that out of the 20-somethings. What made me pleased for him recently. Several of my friends commented and complimented on his strong handshake and looking an “adult” in they eyes while doing. The future may be ok after all. It’s the not so little things that reveal character.
- I still don’t have the slightest clue about mahjong, it’s sudden return to popularity and how so many women have embraced it so quickly. That said, anything that make my wife happy and gets her hanging out with good friends and having fun is alright by me. I think they could have done the same thing with NASCAR or Washer Pitching, but then again I’ve never been at the forefront of societal trends.
- I’ll gladly pay 4 dollars a gallon for gas for a month or two if that means my son and his friends will be adults in a world where Iran has zero capacity to inflict and infect the world with it’s terroristic tendencies and radical version of Islam for the next generation. A small price to pay for an America where fewer and fewer men and women shoulder the burden of serving in our armed forces, doing what needs to be done to keep us safe and free. If this war with Iran creates regime change and the people there embrace taking their country back, that’s a bonus to me. The current goals, simply articulated by the Trump Administration ring solid and sound to me. 47 years too late for many of us.
- Is it a coincidence that the demise of network TV shows, sit-coms to dramas, over the last few decades has coincided with the demise of great TV Show Theme Songs? What’s the last great TV Show Theme Song? “I’ll Be There For You” by the Rembrandt’s for “Friends”? Back in the day, we had songs worthy of the shows. Actually some were better than the shows. We went and bought the 45s or maybe later you downloaded the song. Today….can’t thing of a single TV Show with a great theme song. The last TV Them Song to hit the charts was the “Friends” theme in 1995, peaking at 17. Heck. The theme from “S.W.A.T” went to number one in the 70s and it didn’t have lyrics! “The Ballad Of Jed Clampett” by Flat and Scruggs went number one on the country charts and crossed over to the pop chart. And…the theme to “Miami Vice” still rocks. And you’re seeing the open in your mind right now… Make TV Shows Great Again, Make TV Theme Songs Great Again.
