Happy Wednesday, Y’all !

We survived our first triple-digit day of the summer. I wasn’t really ready for it to show 114 on my car dash, but that’s what it did. I’m driving a back-up to the back-up car right now and it’s more of a go-kart than a car. The poor little AC was working hard Tuesday. I was at a light and pushed on the gas and the car was like, “we can either go or use the AC – but can’t do both…what do you want?”… But we made it and that’s all that matters.

That’s kind of how the teams at the CWS feel about now. They’ve been there a full week and it’s hot and humid and you’re tired of hotel food and just glad you’ve made it. This is the mentally challenging part of the CWS. The emotion is gone out a bit and now you’ve got to figure out how to string together 27 outs with pitching that’s a little stressed. It makes for great viewing, but it’s also why the teams that get to 2-0 have such a supreme advantage.

This year that means LSU and Coastal Carolina are in the driver’s seat today. Both can advance to the finals with wins today. I’m hoping that’s the series we get. The shot board at Rocco’s will explode. Now we just need Texas Tech to get back in the mix in the coming seasons.

We’ve got CWS and more tonight for you on The Daily Broadcast. Join us LIVE at 6:30 Central on X, YouTube and Facebook Live. If you missed our Tuesday night show, here ya go:

What If Wednesday

We love alt. history in Raiderland. Each week we bring you a What IF question and you take us on a new journey through history. You’ll never ask What IF if you use Shropshire Insurance of Texas for all of your insurance needs. Give Jeff a holler this week at Shropshire and tell him we said hello!

Sometimes we look at the world of sports, sometimes not. This week, let’s stick with a sports What If.

What IF: Lubbock, Texas had gotten a Texas League AA team to move to town in the early-to-mid 2000s?

How would the franchise be doing 20 years later? How would the support have grown in town for affiliated minor league baseball? Where would the stadium have ended up being built? What would the team name have become? Would Amarillo have gotten the Sod Poodles?

Let’s talk a little baseball today. Fire away in the comments and then we’ll discuss in-depth tonight on The Daily Broadcast.
