5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. Fact. The greatest Snow-Cone flavor of all-time is Blue. Whatever the flavor is that is Blue, it’s the best flavor. Working as The World’s Worst Life Guard in the Summer of 1988, I consumed so much Blue snow-cone flavor that I’m sure it will affect me in my later days. Admit it. Growing up, flavors were Colors! In no particular order, Blue, Red, Purple and then the random Yellow/Orange might work in. What were your favorite “Color-Flavors” growing up?
  2. Just found out this weekend that Boston is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What’s the point of a Hall of Fame for Rock if Boston isn’t in it? Wu Tang Clan, Jay Z, and ABBA are in and Boston is not…. Every band worth anything should refuse induction until Boston in in the Hall of Fame. Come on and Hitch A Ride! This further proves what we have said for years that Halls of Fame are dying in all aspects. From sports to rock…. they just don’t matter like they did in 1935 or 1965 or 1985. Still, if someone wants to put me in their Hall of Fame for anything, I will show up and deliver an awesome speech!
  3. In case you’re wondering, Elk Steaks are the greatest steaks you’ll ever eat.
  4. If there were a channel on this morning where I could watch Jimmy Connors vs. John McEnroe at Wimbledon in the early 1980s, I’d watch it. It would outdraw Sinner vs Zverev. I promise. Plus you’d get the great Dick Enberg on the call along with Bud Collins in all of his sartorial splendor.
  5. After Wimbledon wraps-up today we get The Open. Or has the rest of the world calls it, The British Open. Played at Royal Birkdale this year, The Open gives us some more great announcers. I am convinced that if you ever have to hear really bad news about anything in your life, that news should be delivered by an English, Scottish or Irish golf announcer. They can take the worst of situations and make it sound like a little annoying fly buzzing about. That, and what ever the news is, you’d get it with perfect and eloquent sentence structure and vernacular. We need more of those guys coming over here to America and calling some football and baseball!
