5 Things We Know On A Sunday

1. Overheard: “The minute you think you’re really somebody important, remember that the attendance at your funeral will largely be determined by the weather…” Unless you’re Dolly Parton.
2. If you can find a Mexican food restaurant that has grilled nopales on the menu, you’ve found a great place. Shout-out to our friends in Wolffarth at Chelo’s. If you’re looking for the real-deal in West Texas, head over and enjoy some great food.
3. Fact. Everyone who runs a business should read and then make everyone who works for them read Jesse Cole’s book, “Fans First”. The creator of the Savannah Bananas wrote a few years ago about how to change the game, break the rules and create an unforgettable experience. That should be the goal of every business. I’ve read it twice this summer and keep finding different nuggets of wisdom. If you’re stuck in a rut in life, read this book.
4. It’s the last weekend of August and I still believe I can save my lawn this Summer. I also believe in the Loch Ness Monster and am pretty sure Santa Claus is real. . .
5. If you’re looking to do something cool and different this Fall or you have friends coming into Lubbock, here’s three places every West Texan should visit. The National Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech only gets better with time. If you’re looking for something truly West Texas hit the American Windmill Museum. If you want to learn more about South Plains agriculture and history, the FiberMax Discover Center is really cool. All of them right here and for the most part of lot of folks in Lubbock forget they are there. That’s too bad.
