5 Things We Know On A Sunday: Rock Around That Christmas Tree If You Want To, You Still Own Your Own Life, One Easy/Time Proven Way To End The Paris Riots, Boot Truth & Lubbock Needs To Be More Like. . .

Brought to you each Sunday by our fine friends at Shropshire Insurance of Texas. Shropshire is Independent, just like you. Give them a holler this week and find out all they can do for your insurance needs. Tell Jeff and his staff Raiderland sent you their way and thank them for supporting what we do here in Raiderland!

5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. Fact. It’s never too early for Christmas Music if you like it. Double fact. It’s even better to listen to Christmas Music in the mountains. If you’re above 8,000 feet of elevation; it should be legal to listen to Christmas Music all the year. It’s just like wearing a straw hat after Labor Day. It all depends on the weather and the circumstances. Don’t hold yourself hostage to someone else’s made-up rules when it comes to things you love! Joy To The World!
  2. Now that the election is a few days behind us, everyone should be realizing that not much in your world changed. You have to get up and go to work, you have to take care of your kids and you have to insulate yourself from whatever and whoever is in Austin and D.C. You have much more control than you realize. So embrace it and make the outside influences irrelevant. If it’s a social or moral deal, you don’t have to participate. If it’s economic, you can achieve beyond and in spite of it. And then remember….in two years it will drastically change again and you’ll still be in charge of your own life and destiny. At least you better be…
  3. If the government of France really wants to get control of protesters, get them off the streets and reduce them to cowering behind fancy cafes and coffee shops, they should just bring in some police from Germany….
  4. Fact. If you’ve never put a strip of duct tape on the sole of your boot when it suddenly gets a hole worn in it, and then wear it that way for a few days before you can take it in and get resoled, you just might not be a West Texan.
  5. We talk all the time about what a city needs. More of this, more of that. We don’t talk nearly enough about what a city needs less of. When it comes to Lubbock, the answer is simple. Lubbock needs a lot more folks to stop wanting Lubbock to be more like other cites. Lubbock needs a lot more folks wanting Lubbock to be more like Lubbock. Thanks to God and Geography, distance and time; Lubbock is uniquely positioned to be something so many other places can’t be. Different.
