The really returns were really rough last night. No, we’re not talking politics, we’re talking about the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season. The message was loud and clear. We love the SEC. We hate the Big 12 and we will figure out how to get Notre Dame in somehow. In other words, it was business as usual.

For Texas Tech, the message is even more stark. At #15, the Red Raiders are on the outside looking in right now. They have no one of consequence to beat unless they make the Big 12 championship game. Tech always had to win out, but now that may not be enough if they don’t play in the title game and win it. Playing with fire. The Holy War this week will chart the path really for not just Utah and BYU, but for the Big 12 as a whole . And folks say the regular season doesn’t matter any more….
