5 Things We Know On A Sunday – Strait Money, New Hats, Whipping Winds, Bun Tech, No Time For Shoeboxes

Brought to you each week by the great folks at Shropshire Insurance of Texas. Independent, just like you. Based in Lubbock, big enough for the whole Great State of Texas. Give Jeff and his staff a holler this week and tell them thanks for supporting what we do in Raiderland. Then get to improving all aspects of your insurance needs.

5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. The absolute success of George Strait selling-out Jones Stadium for two massive shows in Lubbock tell us that Texas Tech should schedule more events like this. Will it always be the impact Strait has had on the Lubbock Economy this weekend? Probably not. But if you add four or five shows like this every year at Jones Stadium you’re adding half or more of another football season of monetary impact for the South Plains. This proves it can work, that folks will travel to Lubbock for a quality event and that everyone can benefit. Make it happen, Texas Tech. Least you can do for what you charge fans to park their cars at sporting events these days!
  2. I wonder how many new hats were sold by Lubbock western wear establishments this week? I can’t always tell a really expensive hat from a less expensive one; but I can tell the difference between a man who wears a hat a lot and one who doesn’t. . .
  3. Some folks around the country get ready for snow storms or hurricanes. In West Texas, we get ready for 50 MPH winds and dirt storms. The porch is now secure and ready for later this afternoon. It’s always exciting the next day to see what blew across the fields and got stuck in our tree-line. Never know what interesting items might show up by Monday morning. If anyone from Brownfield or Denver City wakes up missing something, give us a holler.
  4. You’d think by now they’d have the ability to separate each and every hot dog bun in a package from the other buns; just like a loaf of bread. Nothing worse than getting an 8-pack of buns but you lose two or so because they stick together, tear apart and then you’re left with a bready mess. These are the issues American scientist need to focus on more.
  5. Now that we no longer develop film and print pictures like the “Old Days”, I wonder what everyone does with all of their old shoeboxes? I guess we can put old iPhones in them and let our grandkids figure it out years from now…
