5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. One of the most humbling things God does for us is weather. Think you really know what’s going on, think you’re in control of things… think about the weather. I love it. It’s a daily reminder to us that we should never worry about things we can’t control. In the words of Jimmy Buffett, take the weather with you where ever you go and don’t worry about what’s going on outside. . .
  2. Speaking of weather, West Texas never looks better or smells better than after a nice, slow rain. When the sun comes back out, West Texas shines like a jewel. You can tell that the land is thankful for the rain. It gives back so much color and vibrance that you just know better days are coming. Thanks for the rain!
  3. Top 3 1990s Lubbock Happy Hours: No. 3. Gardski’s Loft. Daily Dollar Drink Specials. Did I like drinking Fuzzy Navels? No. Did we drink them… Yes. No. 2. Early 90s. Spanky’s. 50 Cent Longnecks on Monday night’s. I hope I got that right. Spent a few nights there watching Monday Night Football and a few Texas Tech FB players would make their way over. If I’ve got it wrong, I blame the “He-Man Woman Hater Burger”. No. 1. Any place in town that had a Happy Hour and a FREE Taco Bar… There were a few over the years. This could keep you alive. Particularly if it were on Sunday night’s like The Midnight Rodeo had at one time. This topic is really in your hand from here. 4. There may be no greater joy in the world than that of being a kid standing in line at a concession stand with money in his hand.
  5. Every time you worry about what’s going on in Washington D.C.; remember that your friends and folks you know in Lubbock and Austin will get into your wallet a lot faster and more often than the folks in D.C. And they’ll smile while they do it.
