5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. Not sure if it’s my West Texas nature, but I really hate driving on Interstate Highways when there’s lots of traffic. And there always is. . . Give me a Farm To Market road any day. By the way, I don’t consider I-27 from Lubbock to Amarillo a “real” Interstate….
  2. I know the state of New Mexico doesn’t spend any money on their roads from experience. My honest question is…what do they spend money on in New Mexico? Not roads. Not education. What do they do with all the tax money they collect? To paraphrase former Lubbock mayor and noted philosopher Dirk West, apple cider and rubber tomahawks don’t make an economy…
  3. We often hear pontificators say that there is more that unites us than divides us in America today. I am no longer sure that is the case and I’m not at all certain many folks in America want it to be the case, based on the last few months and years. It’s not up to politicians to “unite” us. It’s up to Americans to decide who they are, what they believe, what they want from a government Of, By And For The People and then to act upon that with their actions. I believe we are seeing just that right now. And I don’t think there is more “uniting” us right now than dividing us….
  4. We were out of town for nearly a week and I’m pretty sure our cats thought we were out for a long lunch. Our dogs, meanwhile, decided after 45 minutes that we were never coming home and now think they’re supposed to live with my in-laws…even after our return.
  5. Green chiles are great for many things, but they were most likely created to make for the perfect cheese burger. Nothing makes a cheese burger better like green chiles. This is settled science.

  1. I could not agree more with your #1
    – 1st place for worst stretch, I20 between Sweetwater and Abilene
    – 1st place for worst road surface, I40 in it’s entirety

As long as there are two medias, America will not be united

    • In fact, we now have a media for everyone in America. Folks can silo themselves into whatever worldview they
want and never venture out now.
      I20 is brutal…
