5 Things We Know On A Sunday
- I have come to the realization that God created cats to remind us of one important fact of life. We truly “own” nothing in this world. We’re here for a short amount of time, we buy stuff; we acquire things, but all will be gone and all are perishable. The cat reminds you that every day. In a great way, the cat lets you know that you can love something, care about something, invest your time and energy on something, yet at the end of the day.. the cat is its own owner. So what does that teach us? Don’t worry about owning things, don’t worry about possessing things, you go about life and love a few things and enjoy a few things and be nice to a few things and it will probably work out for you. At the very least, it might sit on your lap while you watch a movie a purr a bit and act like it really does know its name and will come over when you call him… Maybe 🙂
- The fact that Birthday Nachos hasn’t taken over Birthday Cakes in West Texas is a crime. You go to lunch and they ask you, “Would you like some free nachos or a free piece of cake…”; what do you answer? You say nachos every time. I’ll patronize immediately the place that offers Birthday Nachos.
- If Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy had to meet in College Station, Texas and stay at a Hampton Inn until they came to a peace agreement on the Ukraine War… I’m pretty sure things would be wrapped up in about three days tops. In fact, we might want to move the current Texas Legislature special sessions to College Station. . . No. Bad idea. Then even the Republicans would break quorum and nothing would get done. . .
- The gas station/convenience store that sets all of their drinks prices at exactly a dollar, two dollars or three dollars will have my business for life. I’d even settle for $1.50. But going in for a drink and it’s $1.07 or $2.36 or whatever…. what are we doing here?? Make it easy for me to buy a Big Gulp…
- As of this weekend, I’m “Officially” closer to 60 than 50. I wear my age as a badge of pride that I’m still around and having a great life with a great family and awesome friends. I am often reminded that age is “just a number” and they’re right when those folks say that. I’d submit that it’s not the years, it’s the miles that we chronicle. I’d I’ve loved all the miles I’ve traveled so far. Some smooth, some bumpy as a wash-board county road in West Texas. But every mile I’ve traveled has made me who I am. So remember… it’s not that life is too short to be miserable and not enjoying things… it’s exactly the opposite. No matter how old you are, life is too LONG to not be happy and enjoy every day. So go out and make your next trip around the sun awesome and worth living! And remember, nachos over cake!
