Happy Thursday, Y’all !
The clouds have rolled in, the rains seem imminent and you can almost hear the delicate sound of thunder off in the distance.
No. We’re not talking about Texas Tech Football or Brendan Sorsby, we’re talking about the actual West Texas weather this morning!
It looks like the South Plains is finally gonna get some much needed rains over the next 48 hours. Of course that means we must have important Texas Tech games in jeopardy and we do. Texas Tech Softball is set to close out the regular season starting tonight at 6 PM out at Sellers Field. That’s right when either the heavier rains move in or we have a small window. Friday is the really dicey day for weather, which means you could be looking at a lot of Saturday Softball in Lubbock.
These games matter because depending on the RPI you look at, Texas Tech is still trying to firm up a Top 8 National Seed in the NCAA Tournament. If feels like the NCAA Powers That Be really don’t want Texas Tech hosting a Super Regional… we said it Feels Like it. No proof. We’ll see.
Still, Texas Tech has to get every game in and win every game to make that happen. That includes a dominant performance in the Big 12 Tournament next week. It all matters.
As for the Sorsby Story, that’s the hurry up and wait portion of where we are. We might see some details if not facts drip out from media reports and sources over the next few days or weeks, but it could take a long while before the NCAA gets around to saying what needs to be said.
As quickly as possible, there needs to be clarity for all parties going forward. Most importantly for Sorsby. At this point it is pretty simple. If they have proof he bet on Indiana Football as a player there, he’s done under NCAA rules. Of course that means they have to be able to “Prove” it. This isn’t as simple as the ISU case where the Feds did the digging for the NCAA. How long that could take, who knows.
