5 Things We Know On A Sunday
- “Be epic.” We overheard an older gentleman (and by older we mean about my age…) tell a young man that last night at supper. What a great thing to tell someone, of any age. Not “do your best” or “good luck”; but rather be different. Be epic. Do your own great things and don’t copy others. We hope y’all are Epic this week.
- Report on Society. Went to our first graduation in the last two years of any kind Saturday. We’d love to report that decorum and public behavior is on the up-swing at these kind of events. We’d love to. However, we still have a ways to go. I do appreciate how Texas Tech has turned it into a marketing event with apparel and paraphernalia for sell on the concourse. We had everything but food trucks and wandering Mariachi Bands. Maybe next time!
- Fact. If they re-released Falco’s 1985 hit “Rock Me Amadeus” it would go straight to number one on the charts.
- With school cranking up again this week for many, here’s our annual plea for educators. Give the elementary kids a lot more P.E. and Recess and a lot less time spent worrying about tests. More than ever, kids need to be outside learning how to “play” without a device or screen and how to interact personally and less time at a desk.
- Someone could make a lot of money in Lubbock, Texas if they’d open up an exact replica of the original Hi-D-Ho from the late 1950s, early 1960s. Complete with waitresses and everyone in period dress. It would work. Update it with live music on Friday and Saturday nights, host car shows and hold a sock-hop…you get the idea. It would absolutely work.
