Happy Monday, Y’all !
It’s hard to believe that in three more Mondays it is game week for Texas Tech. Sooner than that obviously for NFL preseason games. We’re back!
We’ve got a lot going on this week as Texas Tech FB practice heats up and Texas Tech Soccer and Volleyball get started. Soccer opens Thursday on the road at Hawaii. Nice scheduling Tom Stone!
Over the weekend we got a few things settled with Texas Tech MBB announcing that Darrion Williams is back with the program after time away at NC State and that UCF transfer Jamichael Stillwell is officially a Red Raider as well. That sent Texas Tech vaulting up some early preseason projections as expected. We’ll know soon enough if Donovan Atwell is cleared to return. If so, as we’ve said, Texas Tech is a legit Top Ten team. Nationally.
After that we also saw the Protect College Sports Act get delayed on a vote until September. This after much wrangling and amendments and political whatnot at the end of the day Friday and into Saturday. The good news is that it is now schedule for a floor vote in the Senate. We’ll see what happens between now and then though on support of the bill. Lots can and probably will change.
We’ll talk about all of that tonight with y’all on The Daily Broadcast plus look at the evolution of Joey McGuire as Texas Tech HC. How has he changed the most and grown the most in your opinion since his first year in 2022? One aspect we’ll look at is the aggressiveness on 4th down from year one to last season.
In 2022 Texas Tech was 35-52 on 4th down, hitting at 63%. One of the most aggressive teams int eh country. Last year Texas Tech was 11-22 on 4th down. A lot has changed. What are the reasons?
