Welcome to the Saturday column with No Name. Still trying to figure out what to call this. Fire away in the comments with your ideas!
Now, on with our quick Saturday thoughts.
- Until you’ve tried to give a cat a pill, you really haven’t lived. The same cat that will eat a mouse or a bird won’t have anything to do with a tiny pill. Good luck trying to hide it in food or a Churu treat. They know. Dogs are easy. If anyone has a great trick on getting your cats to take a pill, let us know.
- I’ve seen lots of dirt storms over my lifetime here in West Texas. Friday wasn’t the worst, but I can probably count on both hands without using all my fingers how many more were worse. Here’s to the farmers and ranchers on The South Plains and their fantastic conservation and land management skills over the last 40 years or so. If you go back before that, what happened Friday was a very common day this time of year. That it stands out these days tells you all you need to know about how awesome our farmers and ranchers are these days.
- The NCAA Tournament Selection Show rolls out Sunday at 5:30 Central. Once again they’ll draw out the announcement of the bracket and who is in and who is out. I hate it. They should release the entire bracket, all at once; in fairness to all teams, players, coaches and fans. Instead they milk the “drama” of whose season is over and whose season continues on. I also hate when they show “bubble teams” live. Never do that if you’re a basketball coach. Never let your teams be Drama Fodder for CBS. Just announce the bracket and then we can move on to the analysis. Not everything has to be a “TV Show” even though we all know that’s all the NCAA Tournament is… A TV Show where the players and coaches are the actors. . .
See y’all Sunday morning for our 5 Things We Know On A Sunday column. We’ll also go LIVE with y’all Sunday night with a combo Roundball Rewind previewing Texas Tech MBB in the NCAA Tournament and who they’ll play plus some Diamond Talk after Texas Tech Baseball wraps up their first Big 12 series of the year at Houston.
