Happy Saturday, Y’all !

As we sit back and enjoy the carnage of the CFB Playoff today, waiting to find out if Oregon can hold off James Madison tonight ensuring them a date in the Orange Bowl against Texas Tech; we get a few moments to opine our Saturday thoughts. Still no name for this column that is most regular except for when it’s not. If you’ve got a column name, fire away in the comments. Don’t cost nuthin.

So, let’s get to it

Be sure and add your own comments and thoughts in the comment section or on Facebook and Twitter/X. Again. Don’t cost nuthin. And if you’re really like it, feel free to share it with your friends.

  1. If we win this Power Ball Lottery thing that’s now over a billion dollars, there will be signs. It will be a good day for West Texas and Texas Tech. First and foremost, if we win the Power Ball; get ready for a new Dan Law Field. The Rock will get a lot of love as well. While nearly every sport at Texas Tech has seen great investment in facilities, Texas Tech Baseball has lagged behind. We don’t want to compete with Big 12 schools, we don’t want to compete with SEC schools. If we win the Power Ball, Texas Tech will be inviting the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros out to West Texas to play a few games each year. It will be awesome. No dome though. We want sunlight, but with a capacity of about 27,000, the New Dan Law Field will have plenty of shade and suites for all of our friends. Just leave a message, maybe I’ll call. . . The stadium will host great concerts all summer and allow the minor league baseball team we’re gonna buy a great home as well. Oh ya, the Savannah Bananas… We’ll see them 10-15 times a summer as they take on The Lubbock Chiltons. Like we said, if we win, there will be signs. What would you do, if you suddenly got to hang out with Cody Campbell in the billionaires club? Tell us in the comments.
  2. Sign #2 we’ve won the Power Ball. The massive donation we make to Texas Tech, in the name of great uniforms will be reflected by the Red Raiders wearing any and only football uniforms from the Donny Anderson era through the Richard Campbell era in 1969. That will be the uniforms and they’ll be great. We will allow one throwback a year, which of course we’ll pay for that will be the Elmer Tarbox uniform of 1938 or the 1978 uniform worn by Texas Tech in their upset of the Houston Cougars. If he asks nicely, we might allow the Zach Thomas era uniform from the 1995 win over Texas A&M ( couldn’t score a TD today ).
  3. The #3 sign we’ve won the Power Ball??? Again, after a crazy large donation to Texas Tech, on the academic side, we’ll build a brand new, start of the art radio station for KTXT-FM. We’ll bump up the wattage to 100,000, endow about 15-20 scholarships for young men and women wanting a career in sports and news radio and turn them loose. Also, after another stupid large donation, they’ll be allowed to broadcast every Texas Tech sporting event as a training mission. If we had not had the chance back in the 80s and early 90s to call Texas Tech WBB, VB, Baseball and some other sports as students, we would have never had a career. That needs to return. And we’ll make it happen. Now, where did I put that ticket for tonight’s drawing.
