5 Things We Know On A Sunday – Drive Time, Great Band/Bad Song, Cotton Fields, Pancakes And Shoe Wisdom

Brought to you each week by the pros at Shropshire Insurance of Texas. Independent like you, based in Lubbock but big enough for the whole State of Texas. Give Jeff a holler this week and tell him we sent you!

5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. Upon further review, I’d rather drive five hours in West Texas/Eastern New Mexico than 45 minutes in the Metroplex. I don’t know how folks do it. But, glad they do, otherwise they’d all move out here. . . so here’s to you, Lover Of Driving In Traffic Guy!
  2. Every great band makes some horrible, not-so-good songs. For Cheap Trick, that song is “The Flame”. Somebody had a bad idea and nobody had the guts to stop them. I blame MTV.
  3. Nothing looks better this time of year in West Texas than a freshly planted field of cotton waiting for some gentle Summer rains. It is and will always be the life-blood for this region as long as any of you folks reading this column today will be around on this planet.
  4. Great pancakes will always beat great waffles.
  5. For every guy making fun of the number of pairs of shoes his wife has, he’s got a closet of over 50 caps and hats; 90% of which he’ll never wear. . .

Thanks for taking in some quick-hitters today. We got a lot going on in Raiderland on this Sunday with Texas Tech Softball in action tonight at 6:00 PM at the CWS in OKC against UCLA. We’ll be keeping up with that and much more with y’all today after taking some time Saturday to celebrate our friend Chad Hasty. Get the laundry done and we’ll see y’all on Twitter/X, YouTube and our growing and engaging Facebook Page.
