5 Things We Know On A Sunday: Bowl Games, Field Goals, and Schadenfreude
- Texas Tech Football is eligible for a bowl game for the first time since 2017. I’ve never been more excited for a potential Armed Forces Bowl appearance to play a mid level American Conference team before Christmas.
- Jonathan Garibay was absolute nails on his 62-yard field goal as time expired. He’s quoted in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal telling his special teams coach, “If God is for me, who can stand against?” Nails.
- Schadenfreude of Texas Longhorn athletics are not only celebrated, but appropriate.
- Give props to Kansas Football. They let the big fullback take all the glory for the winning 2-point conversion. Fullbacks are people too.
- Texas Tech Football has taken their own twist of the turnover chain and made it their own. A miniature Pump Jack Oil rig is on the sideline and it’s quite glorious. Red Raiders and the Texas Tech Athletics department need to embrace the identity of the area. Its what separates The Raiderland against the rest of schools in Texas.
