5 Things We Know On A Sunday – Take That Canada, Too Much Olympics, Dumb Stoves, MAGA Ads & A Loop That Isn’t For Lubbock

Brought to you each week by Shropshire Insurance of Texas. Independent, just like all great West Texans, based in Lubbock but big enough for the whole Great State! Give Jeff and his staff a call this week and see what they can do for your family, your business or even your church when it comes to insurance needs. Tell them Raiderland sent you!

5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. The USA taking Gold in hockey this morning over Canada has to be a gut-shot to the Canucks. What has to kill them is that they know most Americans would be fine with the U.S. getting silver in a sport that is not at the top of the list for most folks in the country. For Canadians, hockey is everything. No Stanley Cups in decades and now the US gets Olympic hockey. Donald Trump needs to put forces on alert up North. No telling what Canada may do now…. Now Americans need to find another sport the world loves and dominate it…hi there soccer. Get it done…
  2. I know that I’m in the minority here, but I wish they’d go back to having the Winter and Summer Olympics in the same year. I always liked the idea of it being an “Olympic Year”. It seemed to make it more important. And…it was easier to keep up with! There’s something to be said about not making things “common”. Like I said, I’m not in the majority on this and it won’t change; but it would be cool if it did.
  3. We’re buying a new oven/stove this week for the first time in decades. The “dumber” the better as far as I’m concerned. I don’t need a stove to think or talk to me. Just heat stuff up. It’s a pretty simple job. We’ve got about as “dumb” a fridge and washer and dryer as you can get and we all get along perfectly.
  4. It’s political season here in West Texas. That means you get to hear commercial after commercial of folks trying to convince you that they’re more MAGA than even President Trump. Can’t end soon enough. I’d rather see local car dealer ads. By the time you get done listening to some of these ads, you’d think Trump wouldn’t have a shot against some of the “conservatives”.
  5. The new Loop 88 in Lubbock shouldn’t be called a “Loop”. It doesn’t go all around the city. It’s mainly East/West along old FM 1585, then turns North to hit Clovis Highway. It’s either a Belt Line or something else, but it ain’t a Loop! This is gonna bother for a while.
