5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. After the showing by the USWNT in the World Cup, perhaps Megan Rapinoe is on to something about wanting men to play women’s soccer. . .
  2. If there are UFOs and Space Aliens, why aren’t there any?
  3. Top 3 Underrated 1980s Sit-Coms: No.3. ALF. No. 2. Square-Pegs. No.1 Mr. Belvedere. It had Bob Uecker. What more do you need to know.
  4. Anyone can be remembered. Very few folks are appreciated. Our society has become obsessed, mainly via Social Media, with being famous as opposed to being appreciated for contributing something of value. Go back 50, 75, 100 years or more and nearly everyone “famous” created something of value. We’ve become a country of Non-Creators.
  5. “From Here It’s Possible” is one of Texas Tech’s greatest slogans over the years. Make specific note of what it doesn’t say. It doesn’t say, “From Here It’s Guaranteed”. It doesn’t say, ” From Here It’s Promised”. It says that from West Texas, YOU can achieve and do great things – with Texas Tech as a foundational start. Far too often these days, folks look at education and certainly higher education as a “guarantee” that you’ll be Given or Decreed certain things in life. That ain’t the case. It’s just a start. The rest is up to you.

  1. #5 – Are you describing the U.S. Constitution or Texas Tech’s slogan? Since way too many folks seem to be overly focused on outcomes I can sometimes get confused.
