Happy Wednesday, Y’all!

And they say open weeks are boring. Well, for Texas Tech fans, you get to sit back and enjoy the mayhem. First in Stillwater, we now live in a world where Mike Gundy is no longer the head coach of the Cowboys. Knew it was coming but figured he’d limp to the end of the season. It must be even worse on the inside that it looks from here.

It’s interesting to watch a school like OSU struggle in this era. For years they had T. Boone Money. It helped elevate their facilities and funded quite a few things up there, including a very good golf program. Now though, they seem to be on the outside of the money game. We will find out if OSU doesn’t have money or if Gundy and crew just didn’t want to use it or didn’t understand how to effective utilize it and the new rules. Probably a combination of both.

Let OSU be a warning to Texas Tech fans.

It can’t be all Cody Campbell or Dustin Womble.

Texas Tech has to cultivate a vast amount of donors, big and small. One day the dynamics may change. Right now, Texas Tech needs to ensure that there won’t be an era in Lubbock like what they’re seeing in Stillwater. Remember, OSU played in the Big 12 title game in 2023…

What If Wednesday

We love Alt. History around here. One of the best ways to understand history is to understand how things might have been different if one or two things had gone a different direction. Thus, we have What If Wednesday where we give you a topic and you tell us how things would have been different.

This week, let’s take a look at Texas Tech history.

What IF: Kent Hance never becomes Chancellor at Texas Tech in 2006.

Obviously, Hance has had tremendous impact on both the academic and sports side of Texas Tech, both during his time as chancellor and since then. What would the biggest impacts of been? From the Mike Leach ending to the expansion of the enrollment to 40,000; anything and everything. What happens differently if someone not related to Texas Tech had taken the job in 2006.

Fire away in the comments with how Texas Tech history might be different.
