A simple and quick Saturday missive from Raiderland today. Still working on a name for the Saturday column, so if anything sounds good, let us know!
Earlier Saturday we came across this video of billionaire SMU Booster Bill Armstrong talking about Texas Tech’s approach to NIL and more. He specifically calls out his fellow “friend” Texas Tech Board of Regents Chairman Cody Campbell, alleging that Campbell might be playing a game he can’t hang with…
We’ll let you watch Armstrong’s thoughts yourself.
So, are Campbell and Texas Tech playing a poker game that’s too rich for their blood?
I don’t think so.
I think it’s rich to hear an SMU guy talk about “sustainability” when it comes to college sports. This is the same school that bought their way into the ACC, giving away millions just to have a league to play in. Let me know how that works out long-term. As for Texas Tech getting smoked by Oregon… one, that wasn’t the case. Texas Tech defense dominated the Ducks as much as Indiana did. The Oregon defense beating up on Texas Tech’s offense had nothing to do with Phil Knight and Nike. As for that, I guess Nike money can’t overcome Indiana who has.. well, remind me again who they have…
Fire away in the comments and let us know what you think about Armstrong’s comments and take on college sports. I think that some folks can have a lot of dollars and not a lot of sense.
See y’all Sunday morning right here for our Five Things We Know On A Sunday column!
