Happy Friday, Y’all !
Quite the little 24 hours for Texas Tech fans, huh?
Texas Tech Softball got it started with an 8- 0 5-inning run rule win over Mississippi State to start the day at the CWS and then Texas Tech Football HC Joey McGuire pulled out the dynamite and Texas Tech Board of Regents Chair Cody Campbell lit the fuse… Not a day afternoon.
There’s no telling how many runs Texas Tech Softball might have scored Thursday if the game wasn’t stopped with one out in the bottom of the 5th. Tech has pummeled SEC pitching in the NCAA Tournament and they’ll get another chance on Saturday afternoon when they take on Tennessee and the top-ranked pitcher in the country in the form of Karlyn Pickens. She throws hard. Really hard. The ultimate test for the Texas Tech bats and we see it in game two. Tennessee had to use Pickens for a few innings Thursday in their win over Texas, so at least she had to work in the heat of the OKC day… should make for a huge TV rating game on Saturday with the winner a massive edge in getting to the finals.
Meanwhile, on a zoom interview for the Big 12 Meetings Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire let Texas HC Steve Sarkisian know that his comments about the strength of the Big 12 were noted. McGuire made it plain that should Sark want to prove how he could win with his 2s and 3s, that could be arranged. Later in the day, Campbell backed it up by saying Texas Tech would pay for the buy outs of both ACU for Tech and Texas Sate for UT and that Jerry World was available…
Immediately on Social Media, fans around the country were clamoring for the game.
From Austin? Crickets. Unless you count the Texas fans and some of the Austin-based media who all ripped the idea because… well… ya know why. . .
It was a good day.

Most Texan Thing

Each week we find out what was The Most Texan Thing That You Did This Week. Big or small, the world needs more Texans doing Texan Things. For us, it was re-learning how to drive on mud after the early week rains. It had been so long since we had enough rain to actually mud-up the roads that my skills had deteriorated a bit. It’s a pass-fail deal though. Either you stay out of the ditch or you don’t. We stayed out. Give us your comments below and get ready to talk about your Texanness tonight on the show!
