The Mustangs make the short trip to Denton and dominated North Texas 48-10 for a road win.

The Longhorns didn’t look ahead to this weekend’s matchup with Alabama as they throttled hapless Louisiana-Monroe 52-10. The measuring stick of all measuring sticks comes to Austin this week.
Next week: vs. Alabama
T5th Baylor (16)
The Bears put up a nice 69-10 victory over Albany start their Big 12 Conference title defense. The Bears now embark on their biggest in non-conference road game since 2010.
Next week: at BYU
T5th Texas Tech (16)
The Red Raiders got the Joey McGuire era off to a hot start with a 63-10 stomping of Murray State. It was the most points scored in four seasons and a clear sign to Tech fans that this isn’t business as usual in West Texas.
Next week: vs. Houston
7th Houston (15)
The Cougars earned a hard-fought victory over UTSA on the road in triple overtime. The next test for the Cougars is another road game, this time in Lubbock.

8th Texas A&M (11)
The Aggies looked underwhelming in a 31-0 victory over Sam Houston State. The defense did get a shutout, but the offense lacks creativity and drive.
Next week: vs. Appalachian State
9th Rice (0)
The Owls were fed to the proverbial lions in the coliseum this past weekend as they faced USC and Lincoln Riley in his Trojans debut.
Next week: vs. McNeese State
Points to consider for this week. Baylor will be playing at BYU this week and will be considered a Power 5 victory if they win. The Power 5 conferences have long considered an Independent BYU squad as a Power 5 opponent when it comes to scheduling.
