Welcome back to the Saturday Column With No Name. Still taking suggestions, so fire away in the comments below. Don’t cost nuthin’ as the kids say! Now, on with the show!
- Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs already knew this would be an off-season of rebuilding and restructuring. Willing to be they didn’t have WR Xavier Worthy getting arrested on their bingo card. As our man @AndrewBrandt says so often, there will be lawyers. What the Chiefs now have to consider is how far down the road they can go with a player that might not be there next season. He’s under a rookie contract, so that helps the Chiefs have some financial wiggle-room here, but either way, this is the distraction a team in transition really didn’t need. Worthy may be about to find out how much Mahomes values him and his contribution going forward. Make no mistake, Mahomes doesn’t call all the shots, but he’ll be consulted by the Hunt family before any moves are made. If I’m Worthy, I’m sending a fruit basket and a keg of Coors Light over to Mahomes’ house tonight. Updated!!! https://x.com/Cory_Mose/status/1898521103334604808
- Texas Tech Baseball is making it really hard to be positive right now, but I’m still onboard that they can survive this wickedly rough start. Last night was looking really good until it wasn’t. Tech gave up a ten-spot in the B8 at Grand Canyon and got dumped after a solid start by Mac Heuer. Then one of the better bullpen arms failed you in the 8th. If it’s not the defense or the hitting, it’s the pitching right now for the Red Raiders. We’ll see what they do tonight in game two at GCU. Get a win and you’re back on track. If Tech can go into April +/- a game at .500 and their SOS will bail out the RPI. If not… So, I’m still onboard and think this is a talented team that just isn’t doing the little ( and sometimes big ) things to get wins. Stay tuned. If I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it. But based on Skins On The Wall, Tim Tadlock gets every benefit of the doubt from me.
- My son is a freshman at WTAMU in Canyon. He’s learning first hand the difference in Winter Weather that 100 miles makes from the South Plains to the Panhandle. What’s a decent day here is a brutal day in the Amarillo area. Most folks lump the South Plains and the Panhandle together. They don’t know. And then, there’s Dalhart. A whole ‘nother world! Gotta love West Texas!
Thanks for dropping by today. We’ll be with you in the morning with our Sunday Column and probably have a huge Texas Tech Basketball and Baseball recap show at some point in the afternoon or evening. So follow all of our platforms and never miss a thing!
