Happy Wednesday, Y’all !
We’ve got Big News out of Lubbock today!
No, not Texas Tech and Houston battling Friday night in a clash of two ranked Big 12 teams. That’s piddly stuff compared to what happened last night around here.
It rained.
Like real and actual rain. For most folks around Lubbock and the South Plains it was by far the most rain anyone has had in a month or more. It’s a little late to help most of the cotton. But it’s rain and that is never a bad thing around here. It was just nice to see it, smell it and hear that sound of thunder.
Now, we look at the forecast and need it to stay away from Lubbock around University and Marsha Sharp FWY until around 11 PM Saturday night. Then, it looks like Saturday is gonna be a soaker. From a weather stand-point, moving the game to Friday night have have turned into a great thing. . .
As for on the field, one thing we’ll be looking at tonight on The Daily Broadcast is who exactly is gonna be on the field for Texas Tech that wasn’t there the first two games. Specifically, will Texas Tech have S Brendan Jordan back and will Edge Rusher Trey White finally make his Red Raider debut. They could be have a massive impact on the defense that got torched by Oregon States air-game last week. Get the the QB faster and cover better with fewer busted assignments in the back-end.
On the offensive side, Will Hammond would love to have Terrance Carter Jr. back to throw to. His presence should open up more things on the edge and deep for Texas Tech. He’s also dynamite in the Red Zone, which for now seems to belong to Thomas Castellanos at QB. Interesting.
We’ll get into all of that, take your questions for “Ask Coach Hyatt” and it is Point Spread Wednesday so get ready to make some calls on a few games around the Big 12 and probably a little game in the SEC tonight. Add in whatever news the day brings us out here in West Texas and we are in line for a large show.
