Lubbock Matadors Soccer Club Brings Pro Footy to the South Plains

Last week a rather innocuous tweet came across my timeline and it took about 15 seconds to realize what I read before franticly scrolling back to find what I thought wasn’t real.

It was real and it’s spectacular.

The Lubbock Matadors Soccer Club will begin its inaugural season in May of 2022 in the Hub City and will compete in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and compete with teams from around the country and the state of Texas.

The NPSL is a domestic developmental league and has produced several draft picks into Major League Soccer the past few seasons.

The club also announced an impressive partnership with global outfitter Puma who also supply the kits for mega clubs AC Milan of Serie A (Italy), Borussia Dortmund of the Bundesliga (Germany), and Manchester City of the Premier League (England).

The Matadors have made available it’s season ticket prices and they’re exceptionally affordable by any measure. Along with media appearances on local tv the club is also bringing on local college students who want front office experience in sports.

In January the Matadors will announce the site of their pitch for the new season and hopefully by the time the season starts we’ll have some chants and slogans to cheer on the Matadors.

Dale, Dale LBK!

Come on you Matadors!
