Happy Monday, Y’all !
Five games in and five games won For Texas Tech Football. A number 9 ranking in the Coaches Poll and 11 in the Drunken Sports Writers/Media Poll. It hasn’t been a work of art, but Texas Tech has been good enough. So far. The question going into the open week for the Red Raiders is how much better can they get over the next 7 straight Big 12 games coming up. That’s the deal. Where is the improvement gonna come from and how quickly.
It feels like this open date comes at a great time for Texas Tech. They’ve got their 1B RB Cameron Dickey nursing a nasty high ankle sprain. They’ve got an offensive line that seems to be in disarray right now, certainly at run blocking and now showing cracks in pass protection. They’ve got a back-up QB in Thomas Castellanos waiting for another appeal late this week to try and regain, is it regain or just gain, eligibility for the rest of the season. In short, Texas Tech has more than a few things to sort out before hosting Arizona State on October 17 in Lubbock.
So, the question for y’all tonight on The Daily Broadcast is simple. What to fix first, how to fix it and do you think it will be enough to get Texas Tech to the Big 12 Championship Game? We’ll tackle all of that, look around the Big 12 for the week, sort out what happened in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes needs some receiving help now… , and much more when we gather tonight.

Ultimate Weekend Warriors
Everything above would make for a heckuva show, but we don’t stop there on a Monday. Each Monday we find out who were your Ultimate Weekend Warriors over the past few days. Who got it done on and off the field. Whether it is sports-related or not, celebrate those who deserve some more recognition to start the week. We’ll give you a few of ours, you can fire away in the comments or on social media and then we’ll discuss tonight on The Daily Broadcast.
- John Curry, Texas Tech LB. A pick-six just by standing in the end zone and being great. The irony, as this may be the shortest pick-six in Texas Tech history, it comes against the Colorado Buffaloes. The same team Dave Parks has the record for getting the longest interception return for a TD, 98 yards in 1962. Go figure.
- No. 14 Texas Tech Soccer. They started the weekend with a 2-0 win over ASU Friday. 3-0 on the home-stand and playing their best soccer of the year. Tom Stone has them ready to make a run in Big 12 play. Watch out.
- KC Chiefs. They’re back to finding ways to win. 30-27 over an improving Raiders team. Kenneth Walker III the big difference maker. Is Tyreek Hill about to make a return? Stay tuned.
Alright, there’s a few to get you started. Hit us up with your Ultimate Weekend Warriors. Bonus points tonight if you can tell us on The Daily Coach which Texas Tech MBB player once had the nickname The Ultimate Warrior.
