Brought to you in part by South Plains College. The Road To Raiderland Runs Through Levelland. Lots of great Red Raiders started off as great Texans. They’re enrolling now for Summer so check out what they have to offer you, your college age kids or anyone else you know looking to further their education this summer in West Texas!

Happy Thursday, Y’all !

When it comes to Texas Tech MBB right now, it’s not whether Tech can compete with the NBA to keep players, but rather can the NBA compete with Texas Tech and other power programs financially and woo players away from the college ranks.

According to an ON3 report Wednesday, Texas Tech’s J.T. Toppin will top the charts on the Red Raider roster pulling down around 4 million dollars. That’s a lot. That’s more than some teams in MCBB paid their entire roster two seasons ago. For now, it’s the going rate if you want to compete for an NCAA Championship, and Texas Tech does.

We expect the Texas Tech MBB payroll to exceed 10 million dollars next year, probably close to 12 million. And it’s a great investment. For now, there still is no “House Settlement” to speak of and even then, that won’t restrict NIL in the slightest. So, this number will only go up.

So, say it once again. . . Texas Tech is a Have and not a HAVE NOT school. Tech is better positioned every school in the Big 12 to play this game and is going toe-to-toe with SEC and Big 10 schools right now.

Of course payroll doesn’t guarantee wins, but it sure makes it easier. . .

We’ll talk about that, Texas Tech Football bringing in more talent, Tech Baseball and Softball as well as Ludvig Berg and his first round at The Masters with y’all tonight on The Daily Broadcast.

Over, Under, Rated Right Thursday

On Thursdays, we rate a few things in Raiderland. Need to know where you stand on certain topics and whatnot.

This week, we want our MTV. In fact, we want the greatest era of MTV… We’re rating early to mid-80s bands made popular with their videos as much as on the radio. So, who ya got out of the Golden Age of videos?

Over: Michael Jackson. There. I said it. Thriller, after the first 400 times it played, just a movie trailer…

Under: Madness. If all they ever did was “Our House” that would be enough. The former punk-ska band did more than that.

Rated Right: Duran Duran.

OK, those are just a few of our thoughts and believe me, we have more. So fire away in the comments below and we’ll do a deep-dive on this tonight on The Daily Broadcast!
