Happy Frigid Wednesday, Y’all !
We started the morning at a balmy Drew Brees this morning, hoping to move up into DB/RB numbers by the end of the day. We’ll see. Not many stretches of multiple days around here where you stay under freezing. Hope everyone is prepared. Of course we’ll be back to around 70 by Sunday afternoon, because it’s West Texas. . .
Texas Tech MBB had one of those nights last night at TCU. Didn’t play awful, just didn’t play well enough to win on the road in the Big 12. Which is strange because this has been one of the best road teams in the league. Defense was shaky at times but a couple of big scoring droughts, including nearly four minutes at the end of the game, did them in. After Tech got out to an early seven point lead, TCU really controlled the night. Actually Doug Sirmons and crew controlled the night. As he often does against Tech. . .
We’ll discuss that and the prospects for baseball this weekend and more LIVE with you at 6:30 Central. Join us for The Daily Broadcast on X, YouTube and Facebook. All our platforms free so sign-up for all of them!

What If Wednesday
On Wednesday we go down the road of Alternate History. Sometimes sports, some times not. We look at how things could have just if just one decision or action had changed. Here’s this week’s What IF:
What If – Bo Jackson never got hurt?

Would he have become the definitive greatest athlete of his generation? Was he already? Would he have gone baseball or football or continued to do both?
Bo Knows. Do you?

Hey Ryan,
I don’t have a Facebook or X,; so, I’ll give you my opinion here re: Bo Jackson.
First, nothing really changes as far as whether the Raiders move back to Oakland or stay in Los Angeles. Remember, even when Bo was there for parts of 1987-90, the Raiders were rumored to be a team on the move (Sacramento, Irwindale, Oakland). They had trouble selling out the L. A. Coliseum even when they won. And the Raiders moved to L. A. less than 2 years after winning Super bowl XV.
That said…
A healthy Bo Jackson changes Super bowl XXV. Here’s why: The Raiders started 5-1 before bo came from the baseball diamond, but they only ran for 150+ in that span. They did that four times in the final ten weeks of the regular season, plus both playoff games. He had six carries for 77 yards (but no touchdowns) in his final NFL game, the 20-10 win over Cincinnati 1/13/91 (’90 AFC Divisional Playoff @ LA). The Raiders as a team ran for 151 yards in the 1990 AFC title game, the 51-3 loss at Buffalo. But no one for the Raiders passed 40 yards on the ground. The Raiders were basically one-dimensional without Bo, but Bo would have made the game more competitive than 51-3. Maybe 51-23?
In Super Bowl XXV, maybe the Bills are better prepared for for a running team like the Giants. Buffalo wins Super Bowl XXV if they face Bo in Buffalo the week before.
If Bo stays healthy in ’91, the Raiders probably face the Redskins in Super Bowl XXVI (but lose a rematch of Super Bowl XVIII).
Bo stays with the team until 2000 or so. Maybe the Raiders get past the Ravens and win Super Bowl XXXV over the Giants.
Well written and well thought out.
Thanks for the great contribution to Raiderland!
Hyatt
Should read “150+ in one game in that span.” Oops!
