5 Things We Know On A Sunday

Here’s what we know. You let us know what you know this week in the comment section below and be sure to share it with your friends on social media!

  1. I don’t have any Super Powers, but I can do a few things. I take great pride in the fact that I can, within one to three tries, rearrange the clothes in a washing machine so it won’t go clanking off into space on the spin cycle as the combination of wet, heavy towels get off-kilter with the random t-shirts and underwear that shouldn’t have been in there in the first place. If it take me more than three attempts to get the washing machine balanced, I feel like a failure. I rarely feel like a failure. Call me if you need me. Cape not included.
  2. I got to see my grandparents’ old house for the first time in over 20 years this weekend. Got to go inside and see the changes the owners had made, both good and not-so-good. It was a good day. It’s never the same though. The memories are there, the faces and emotions of the past, but those things are best left in the past I suppose. I’m glad the old house has had a great, continued life for other families and that they’ve made their own memories there. I’ve got mine. They’ve got theirs. I reckon the old house, if it could talk, was glad to see me again and at the same time; hoping another little boy like I once was will play in the backyard, spend Christmas mornings running down the hall to the den where the tree and all of Santa Claus’s wonder lay and that same other little boy will grow-up and enjoy coke-floats with his grandparents and eat soup on Sunday’s watching NFL games in the living room. I hope that house gets that again. I know I loved being that little boy the first time around.
  3. Top 3 Things To Put On French Fries: No. 3 A1 Sauce with black pepper. No. 2. Blue Cheese crumbles. No. 1. Heinz 57 Sauce.
  4. I like sauerkraut.
  5. It’s been a little bit warm around West Texas the last few days. I’ve tried to decide here recently whether I prefer really cold weather or really hot weather. At my age, I’m actually leaning to cold. I can bundle up. I can get to a warm fire. I can use it as an excuse to sit by a fire and drink a beer and eat some chili or hot wings. I can enjoy it in Red River… The heat? I got no real use for it anymore. I mean, I suppose I could resurrect my life-guard career, but no one wants that. So. I’m Team Cold now. It’s official.

  1. 1. Laundry is an art and I too have perfected it!
    2. If you’re speaking of the home on 47th street near Maedgen Elementary School, I had the pleasure of mowing that yard for your grandmother for several summers. She paid me but looking back I wish I’d have done it for free. I’m sure I spent the money on something important like beer or snuff. She always had a cold glass of water for me in the back yard and the ice cubes were half melted where I could chew them as I drank. I guess I provided a service but she provided love, kindness and perspective. My life was enriched by that!
    3. No thanks!
    4. Me too…
    5. I can’t wear my sandals and shorts and watch tv on the back patio in cold weather so I prefer hot. However, I’ve been known to wear shorts and sandals to Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner so I guess it doesn’t matter. 100>20 IMO.
