5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. After a lot of trips around the sun, I’ve learned that life is rarely as bad as you think it is and we almost never realize how good things are. As you total up 2023, keep that in mind.
  2. Don’t make resolutions for the new year. Set goals. Then create create a strategy that mirrors your goals. Then create a plan to implement the strategy. Then be resolute about the actions required to implement the plan. The results will take care of themselves. A resolution without anything else is just sitting there at Midnight saying, “I wish”.
  3. Top 3 Enjoyable Things Of 2023: No. 3. Watching my son play his senior year of football. They tell you it goes fast. They don’t lie. It was an honor to watch him play. No. 2. Watching my son on college scouting trips as he charts his own path and future. Nothing better than seeing all the years of preparation on his part come to fruition. No. 1. Being excited for what 2024 holds for him and our family. The past is great. The future is even better. The here and now, as it should be; is frenetic, crazy, enjoyable and every other adjective you can think of. And that’s just how it should be.
  4. 365 days from now, how do you want folks to think about how you made them feel over the past year? That’s what they’ll remember most about you this time next year. How did you make them feel? I personally need to work on this. I need to focus more on the good than the more than ample negative out there in the world. My wife would probably say that I need to extend more Grace. I aim to do that in 2024. I still reserve the right to make fun of Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys and folks who don’t love egg nog.
  5. Thank you for taking time to read what we write each Sunday! It means a lot to me that y’all take a few minutes to see what’s on my mind and then kick-around the topics and ideas. Your comments mean a lot to me, even when we disagree. My hope for 2024 is to continue to grow Raiderland, grow our community of friends here and see y’all involved on our site more and more each day by giving you compelling reasons to comment and add your thoughts to the discussion. Here’s to a great 2024!
