Happy Thanksgiving Eve !

The latest College Football Playoff Rankings are out and Texas Tech checked in at number five, right where they should be for the most part. Get the win Saturday at cold West Virginia and then if the Red Raiders can take care of business at the Big 12 Title Game, the committee is setting it up for Texas Tech to slide into the number three spot. The committee has to, needs to and will reward a major conference champion with just one loss on the year. Add in that to this point Texas Tech has been dominant, 10-1 against the spread – best in the country and the committee has more than enough reason to justify moving Texas Tech to number three.

Think what you want about the TV Show that is the College Football Playoff, I believe they really want to have more than just the SEC and Big 10 in the top four. It just looks bad if they don’t. And they don’t want to look bad. They want controversy and eyeballs and they’ll get that by moving the “power” teams down after their upcoming losses.

If Texas Tech does win out and stays at five, it begs the question of whether the Big 12 is actually regarded as a power conference or not…. An issue that I don’t believe the Lords of the Realm want to deal with right now….

What If Wednesday

We love Alt. History in Raiderland. On Wednesdays we ask the great What If Questions from sports and otherwise. If you have Shropshire Insurance of Texas, you’ll never have to ask What IF when it comes to your insurance needs. Give Jeff and his staff a holler next week and let them get started making your insurance the best it can be.

This week we stick with the world of sports.

What IF: The Dallas Cowboys never agreed to play in the annual Thanksgiving Day game back in the 1960s?

Would the the Dallas Cowboys have turned into America’s Team in the 70s? How much did it help drive and still helps to drive the popularity of the franchise? Would you as a sports fan be as invested in Thanksgiving Football if the Dallas Cowboys weren’t playing every year, building on history and memories?

Tell us in the comments below and we’ll discuss in-depth with y’all tonight on The Daily Broadcast.

  1. No Turkey Day game for Dallas and they don’t become America’s team.

I know this first hand because growing up in Cali, I wasn’t a Rams fan or a Chargers fan or a Raiders fan, I was a Cowboys fan because I got to watch the Cowboys and Indians on TV on Thanksgiving day every year.
