Happy Monday, Y’all !

The Masters never fails does it . . .

At the end of every Masters you’d swear you’d just seen the greatest golf tournament ever. And that’s just how it should be. That’s why it’s still different. Just keep ESPN from ruining it during the week and we’ll be fine.

I wasn’t rooting for Rory, but I wasn’t rooting against him either. It made for a great story. Was hoping for a playoff after that brutal tee-shot on 18, but McIlroy is just too good right now scrambling in the moment for it to matter. As for the Pride of Texas Tech, Ludvig Aberg had about six holes this weekend that just killed his chances at a Top 10. Maybe better. At least it wasn’t a Sunday gaffe, but the time is coming where folks are going to start talking about his ability to take the Next Step in the World Of Golf. Any Euro can win Ryder Cups these days… it’s not hard. We kid. Sorta.

So, we’ve got that to talk about this evening on The Daily Broadcast as well as a lot more.

The lot more right now is the State of Texas Tech Baseball.

WVU took the series in Lubbock Sunday with an 10-2 win in a game that was 3-1 WVU going to the 8th. And then Texas Tech pitching showed up. And some fielding. And some non-clutch hitting all day. And another Big 12 series loss.

Texas Tech Baseball is now sitting one game ahead of NOT being in the Big 12 Tournament. We went from two weeks ago talking about how 5 Days In May would make all the difference for this team, no shot to get an at-large NCAA bid this year, to now wondering if they’ll make the Big 12 Tournament at all.

Not good.

There were a few bright spots this weekend for Texas Tech and we’ll talk about that tonight but there is a bigger topic looming.

The State Of Texas Tech Baseball.

20-15 on the full season. 6-9 in Big 12 play.

We said a few weeks ago we’d give you our thoughts on where the program is Right NOW after the WVU series. That time has come.

Hard conversations need to happen and no doubt will happen about the future of this program in the coming days. Whether they make the Big 12 Tournament or not, whether they turn this season around or not… the discussions are going to happen. Do our thoughts matter to the decision makers? No. They don’t.

We do have the perspective of someone who called their first Texas Tech Baseball game in the Spring of 1989. When players like Gustafson and Tadlock and others were on the field. We’ve seen a few things over the years and have a few thoughts.

So tune in tonight if you want to know what we think on that and everything else under the sun.

Good, Bad & Ugly

Each Monday we recap the weekend that was, Good, Bad and Ugly style. Some things were great. Some weren’t. Some so ugly, you just had to look away. We give you our GBUs, you post yours in the comments below and we’ll sort it out tonight on The Daily Broadcast.

G: Texas Tech Softball HC Gerry Glasco getting ejected Sunday. Love it. Love the fight and the passion. This Tech team will need all sorts of added motivation down the stretch to maintain an edge.
B: Seeing Ludvig Aberg look so good at times and then… meh. Golf is hard.
U:Texas Tech Baseball pitching. In Big 12 play, Tech is last in team ERA by nearly a full run, well over 7 per game. All while leading the Big 12 in batting average. It’s as if we’ve been transported back in time to the Gary Ashby Era at Texas Tech.

Ok, there’s a couple of quick thoughts. You get the idea. Get yours posted in the comments below and we’ll have a deep dive on The Daily Broadcast tonight.

Let’s go fishing this Spring/Sumer! Give our friend Jeff a holler in Red River!
