5 Things We Know On A Sunday
- When a restaurant tells you that the medium heat on any sauce they serve is medium… trust them. Don’t be a hero. I realize anyone under 30 years of age is reading this and laughing, but the day will come when you will respect the ratings on a menu or from a waitress…. There’s no glory in tearing up your gut over spice. Grow up and embrace the flavors and the actual taste of food. Signed… an Old Guy From West Texas.
- You’re at a gas station and you’ve got two folks standing in front of you. One guy is with your local city council member and the other is some bum asking for a handout to buy beer. Which one do you give your five dollars to? I’m going with the bum. At least at this point I know what he’s going to spend the money on and that I’ve got a fair ROI on my handout. Is that an indictment on local elected officials? Yes. Yes it is.
- If Taylor Sheridan wants to do another project, I’d love to see him create a family-based drama based on the book, “Where The Red Fern Grows”. Take us out hunting with Billy, Old Dan and Little Ann. Take us through the families struggles and give us a good family show but with the cinema and character development Sheridan has shown on the other projects. It could be this era’s Little House On The Prairie. There are tons of parents who love what Sheridan does, but let’s face it, Yellowstone isn’t exactly family viewing for most folks. I’d watch this show. And yes, this time both Old Dan and Little Ann make it… at least in my version.
- For the first time in 35 years or so, I’ll be getting my hair cut at a new barber shop on Tuesday. It’s fancy. They take something called appointments, but you can still just walk in and get a haircut. I’m kinda nervous. Will I fit in with the regulars? Will I be allowed to talk? I wasn’t allowed to talk at Howard’s Barber Shop for about the first five years or so until they decided I was grown-up enough to have an opinion. Will I have to explain to the barber how to cut my hair? I haven’t had to do that in decades. I’m not even sure how to do it. In fact, when I first went to Howard’s I didn’t get a choice. They cut it they way they cut it. I’m wondering today, how many of y’all have had to get a new barber after many years with another one. What was it like and how did it go? Let us know in the comments today or on Facebook or X.
- I have a great Mom and my son has a great Mom. It doesn’t get any better than that today. Call your mom today if you can. You’ll be glad you did.
