Some of the biggest off-season and in-season moves by Texas Tech teams continue today with more court proceedings.
In Lubbock, it’s Donovan Atwell trying to get judicial relief so he can play a fifth year of basketball for Texas Tech. Will he get it? Will it last? When will we know for sure. No one knows. And that’s the mess you have if you’re Texas Tech counting on things like this.
Same goes for back-up QB Thomas Castellanos and his case out in Kentucky. Texas Tech lists him as Questionable for the Arizona State game. Questionable usually doesn’t play. Usually. For now his ineligible. If the court reverse, how long till the next lawsuit by the NCAA?
All of these moves were gambles by Texas Tech. There is massive upside on the basketball front. Much more at stake. On the football front, as long as you don’t play Castellanos where he could get ruled ineligible later, you have little downside. Of course the one thing missing in all of this is clarity. And that’s the fault of the NCAA. They chose this fight. Why?
