Happy Wednesday, Y”all !
A busy week turned into an historic one Tuesday night as the Lady Raiders win over Kansas gave head coach Krista Gerlich her 100th win as head coach at Tech. Her next win will tie the number of games she won as a Lady Raider en route to the 1993 National Championship. The 70-65 win gives Texas Tech 23 wins on the season. They’re a lock now to make the NCAA Tournament. It’s just a matter of seeding now for the Lady Raiders.
The other big news is that you won’t being seeing a 7-2 post player in a Lady Raider uniform this year. . .
It makes a lot of sense. Tech needs some parts to build around next season and she can definitely help attract some talent to the program. A year of strength and conditioning would be huge as well.
We’ll talk about that, the Texas Tech men hosting Colorado tonight, Softball on the road in Florida this weekend with a No. 1 vs No. 5 match-up Thursday agains Florida State, plus some rather large news out of Kirby Hocutt on the future of NIL and non-rev scholarships at Texas Tech. Did we mention baseball starts Friday.
Lots going on.

What IF Wednesday
On Wednesdays we go down the road of alternative history. The great What IFs in the world of sports and life. It’s always interesting to see how the world changed on what seemed like at the time very simple decisions and actions.
This week, we ponder the question about Texas Tech’s name.
What IF: Texas Technological College had become Texas State University in 1969?
It’s hard to imagine, but it was a hot debate back then. A lot of academics hated the Tech idea and thought being The State School of Texas would be more impressive. Older alums fought hard to keep the Double T alive. You know how it ended.
How different would things be at Texas Tech today if it wasn’t Texas Tech?
Fire away with your thoughts in the comments below and we’ll give you ours tonight at 6:30 Central on The Daily Broadcast.
