Happy Thursday, Y’all!
We’ve got a lot of moving parts today, but we’re ready to go.
First off, a little morning Big 12 Tournament action with Texas Tech taking on Iowa State at 11:30. ISU hammered Arizona State Wednesday and obviously has the advantage of already playing a game on the goofy court in KC. Will the double-bye hurt Texas Tech? Will find out. Since 2018 in the major conferences teams who have played a game vs one with a bye have covered at a great rate.
So that should help ISU right? Wrong. ISU is favored this morning by six points depending on where you look so this one is already priced in. For Texas Tech you just want to see them look like they can handle a little inside physicality unlike the last two losses. Tech doesn’t have to win today to have success in the NCAA Tournament, but they may very well be playing to hang on to a four-seed. Don’t give the committee a reason to punish you for not having J. T. Toppin.
We’ll look at that plus recap a nice 10-5 midweek win for Tech Baseball over #24 UTSA. The line-up went bombs away with three 2-run homers in one inning. That’s good. Pitching was more than solid for a Wednesday night game. It was a much needed win over a quality team for the Red Raiders. We’ll get the first RPI of the season Friday from D1 Baseball and Tech should be somewhere around 100 I’m guessing. Yes, the games against Albany and Cal. State Bakersfield hurt you that bad…. UTSA win helps greatly.
