Happy Thursday, Y”all !
While Congress struggles to pass The Save America Act, a signature piece of President Trumps second term, it looks like the Senate at least might try and “Save” College Sports. It looks more likely today that the Senate may actually vote on the Protect College Sports Act. Maybe over the weekend. Maybe not. It’s still further along than any other piece of meaning sports reform law.
Whether you like the idea of government involvement in college sports or not, it has done a service. It has forced schools and conferences to flesh out what they really want. If the act fails, it gives some direction on how the NCAA might actually be able to rule itself. Maybe. It still feels like we have a very long way to go to get to anything that resembles agreement on the how, not the what. Everyone agrees for the most part that the current model can’t survive. What replaces it has folks all over the place.
And so it goes.
