Happy Wednesday, Y’all !

Overall it was a pretty good Tuesday if you were a Texas Tech fan. Red Raider Football surged to number three in the CFB Playoff rankings and Texas Tech MBB played a March game in November.

First off, in football, Tech is right where they ought to be right now. Ahead of Ole Miss and just lurking now like Tiger Woods on a Saturday waiting to make a move as soon as anyone stumbles. I thought the committee overall was fair to the Big 12. I think I’d have Utah ahead of BYU right now but it really doesn’t matter much. Those two teams have the same route right now with is to worm their way into a rematch with Texas Tech. When it comes to the league getting two teams in now, that might come at the expense of Texas Tech getting beat in the Big 12 Title game. For now I’m just fine with Tech being the only Big 12 team in the playoff. . .

As for Texas Tech MBB, they went up to Illinois and played a good game as a 4-point underdog but just had too many miscues to get it done. J.T. Toppin was mid-season form going 35/11, yes 35 points, but didn’t have enough help. Tech also couldn’t get to the Free Throw line. Check out the boxscore here.

All in all, Tech is better off for playing a top ten level team on the road early. This schedule gives them plenty of chances to get resume wins and we expect that to happen this year.

What If Wednesday

We love Alternate History here in Raiderland. History can change on a dime. One decision can completely change the course of events. Sometimes we ask about sports and sometime just life in general. Hat Tip to long-time listener/viewer/reader Robert C. for coming up with the idea to do this every week.

This week, we’ll stick to sports.

What IF: Jerry Jones had hired Tom Brady two years ago, giving him a stake in ownership and turning over all day-to-day football operations to Brady?

Where do you think the Dallas Cowboys would be right now? Would Brady have been able to breakthrough the Jones Culture and make changes? Do you think Brady could be effective in that role at some point in the future, not just in Dallas? What would a world look like where Tom Brady is the “other” face of the Dallas Cowboys?

Fire away in the comments and we’ll toss it out there tonight on The Daily Broadcast.

  1. Brady was a gym rat and a film room junkie with huge emphasis on attention to detail.

I cannot imagine his approach to business being any different and therefore, yes, absolutely he could have a positive impact on Jerry’s boys.
