The Saturday Column With No Name: Infantile Thinking US Olympic Ski Bums Embarrassed By America , But Take The $$… Texas Tech FB Losing Coaches Is A Great Thing Plus The One Prop You MUST Play For The Super Bowl On Sunday

Brought to you in part by Ultra Exteriors. Based here in Lubbock but the cover the South Plains, from a new roof or windows to kitchen and bath remodels – Ultra Exteriors can handle the job and do it right. Give Warren a call and check out their website. Great time to start the home makeovers so you can enjoy them this Spring and Summer!

We’ve got a little extra time today so we figured we’d crank out the now semi-legendary and nearly regular Saturday Column With No Name. You never know what might be top of the page on a Saturday. Feel free to add you own comments and thoughts today here on the site or on our Facebook or Twitter/X pages! Glad you’re out there today and hope you accomplish all of your goals around the house this weekend. Great weather here in West Texas. Wish we had some Texas Tech Baseball or Softball going on in town!

  1. Fact. I‘d take the members of the US Ski team who are embarrassed to represent the United States of America and tell them they can say what they want, but they can’t wear the colors or represent the United States at the Olympics. Get your own financial backing and find another country. They make it easy to not care about them or the Olympics. If one of them happens to stumble into a gold medal, they should not be allowed by the USOC to stand on the podium and be hypocrites by disrespecting the National Anthem. Thankfully, US Hockey is there for us to care about instead of mis-informed, infantile thinking ski bums.
  2. Fact. Texas Tech Football is losing two assistant coaches on defense. Also fact. Going forward it won’t hurt the Red Raiders. Assistant coaches are great. They do matter. You can always find more. The coordinators coach the coaches. It’s interesting to note that both Zarnell Fitch and CJ Ah You, will both respected, only coached with Tech DC Shiel Wood for one season. It’s entirely possible they were not in alignment with what Wood wants and expects from assistants. And that’s OK. Mainly it’s always a good sign that you have coaches other coaches want. That needs to be the case for Joey McGuire and Texas Tech. Each year you should see assistants move on and move-up! Just like at Alabama under Nick Sagan. He took great pride in hiring guys who wouldn’t be around long because they’d elevate their careers. I’ve seen what it looks like for Texas Tech Football when no one wanted your coaches. It wasn’t good. Best of luck to both Fitch and Ah You and bring on the next talented crop of coaches. Also, don’t worry about recruiting. That’s James Blanchard. Not any single coach. If a player wants to depart or de-commit because of an assistant coach, Texas Tech just moves on down the list and pays the next guy even more.
  3. Here’s your one and only perfect and FREE Prop Bet for the Super Bowl. Take the over of 3.5 total punts for New England Sunday. You’ll have to pay a little juice, but it’s worth it. Thanks to Steve Fezzik for his wisdom and handing this one out FREE Friday on VSiN with Gill Alexander and Kelley Bydlon. Steve, I can aggregate too from the best!

Y’all have a great rest of the day and we’ll see you in the morning for our 5 Things We Know On A Sunday Column! Hyatt

  1. I asked this on Facebook somewhat facetiously but I’ll ask it here seriously, why are the Olympics still staged as country vs country?

    Borders don’t exist. Right?

The double-speak. The hypocrisy. The propaganda. The selective outrage. The ignorance regarding real history. All of it is a downhill slide that I fear will only continue to gain speed before the inevitable crash.

The hope that a safety net exists somewhere out there somewhere is but a very dim and flickering light.
