Happy Tuesday, y’all !
Where did our mid-week Texas Tech Baseball game at ACU go???
Oh ya, it’s gonna storm like crazy today so they pushed it to Wednesday… Glad they made the call early so they didn’t burn pitching, but it now compresses the games with TCU this weekend in Fort Worth into a tight box. Good news is Texas Tech has worked with that schedule a bit with the Easter series at UCF and the series before with BYU. It meant Tech had a shorter time period to use pitching so that’s ok. It also means Texas Tech stayed home today and won’t leave early, saving a day of travel.
Either way, wish there was Tech Baseball today, but we will make do!
How did the eclipse go for you? Clouds, crowds or just a Meh? It was a Meh for me in Lubbock. It pretty much looked like it does this time of year when you think it’s about to storm and rain.. and then it doesn’t . I can see Comanche and Kiowa Indians a few years back watching this thinking about how they should cancel their cable TV news channels since they hyped it up so much and nothing happened.
It was really amazing and cool where you live, post some pictures in the comment section. We’d love to see them.
Who won on this deal?
Folks in Central Texas who rented out their homes to Yankees wanting to see a cloudy day… I hope they made out like bandits! Most Texan Thing candidates!
Tuesday’s Best
Each Tuesday we give you a topic, category or something or ‘nother and you give us your best examples of said things. And Whatnot… So, let’s get on with it.
Now that the Solar Eclipse is over with.. and we can all get back to work and whatnot in Texas… What are the Two Coolest Things You’ve Seen In Nature?
I realize that is a broad topic and hope you’ll approach it that way.
I’ll give you one of mine. Back around 1989 we were hiking in Northern New Mexico heading to a high mountain lake. We were at about 10,500 feet elevation, working through a fairly tight valley. Around two in the afternoon the clouds welled up, the wind blew and a late-summer storm begin to brew up.
From where we were, we had no choice but to keep moving off a ridge-line and keep moving up towards the lake. As we did that one really cool scene unfolded behind us.
The clouds came together and we got to watch a hail-storm and lightning storm from ABOVE the cloud level. Like nothing I’ve ever seen. Think about being in a plane and being above the storm. Now put yourself about 500 fee above said storm on a mountain trial..
I know lots of folks enjoyed the eclipse yesterday, but that will never beat that August afternoon of hiking for me. When you see lightning and hail from above… it’s a crazy feeling… and believe me, you pick up the pace of the hike!
Ask nice and I might share where we were going to that afternoon….
So, give us your Two Coolest things you’ve experienced or seen in nature.
