5 Things We Know On A Sunday
- Somewhere along the way, somebody figured out they could make a lot of money making food for dogs. The fact that we live in a country where we have at least 25 different selections for food for dogs at your local store where you go to buy food for you…tells you all you need to know about how great a country the United States of America has become. We spend millions upon millions of dollars each year on food for an animal that is just as likely to eat… well, you can finish the sentence. I’m not knocking dog food or feeding your dog… I’m just impressed and amazed that anyone can think America isn’t a great country when I can go buy a bag of lamb and rice and whatever else to give my dog. Don’t tell me America is poor.
- Speaking of dogs, “Where The Red Fern Grows” is still the best book about dogs and should be read aloud in every second grade classroom every fall. If you’ve got a child and they’ve not read the book… make it happen this summer or fall. Will they want a pair of Redbone Coon Hounds? Yes. And that’s OK. You can explain you just can’t send off five bucks and have dogs show up a few weeks later at the train station these days. They’ll understand.
- We have instructions on bottles of shampoo these days. About our first thoughts on America being great because of dog food selections. . . Maybe I need to rethink things for a minute or two.
- If Wendy’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken want to have a great, national ad campaign; they need to bring Dave Thomas and Col. Sanders via A.I. At least use technology for something great. Sales would skyrocket. I’d even have them in the ads together. “Dave, what are we doing here?? I don’t know Col. but I do love the taste of this extra crispy fried chicken, trade ya a square hamburger for one…”
- Now that most churches can livestream their services on their own website you don’t hear nearly as many broadcast on your local station. Oh, there’s still a few out there, but for the most part it’s a thing of the past. Too bad. I always enjoyed listening to the Southern Baptist come on, then hear the rebuttal from your local Church of Christ and finally the Methodists showed up and sang for a while before everyone headed off to Furr’s for lunch. West Texas at its best.
Thanks for taking a few minutes to hang out with us on a Sunday. As always, we hope you enjoy our musings and feel free to add your own comment. Be sure and share with a friend or two if’n ya want to!
