5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. I’m seriously considering going to see a movie in a theater in 2026. It’s been a few years. My wife can attest to this fact. I’d like to see The Searchers or maybe Tombstone, but we’ll see what Hollywood churns out. For those of you who’ve been to a theater lately, give me some reviews? What can I expect to pay? Are the patrons behaving and keeping their mouths shut and phones off? How’s the butter on the popcorn? Overall, is it worth my time and money to go ack to a theater to see a movie…otherwise i’t Lonesome Dove at the house.
  2. Fact. The “Becoming Your Parents” Ad campaign with “Dr. Rick” is a documentary. Admit it.
  3. Things I can’t remember without having to make sure I’ve got it written down somewhere: 3. The dimensions of my AC/Heater air filter. Had it for years. Never changes. 50/50 if I’ll buy the correct one at the store. 2. My son’s cell-phone number. I know it sounds bad; but my brain no longer remembers phone numbers at all. I maybe know about 5-10 off-hand. Cell phones have killed off our need to store numbers in our head. 1. My driver’s license number and my wife’s license plate. I can keep up with my truck plate because it’s easy to remember. And kinda cool… As for my DL, I think this goes back to the demise of writing checks. Remember when you had to put everything but your blood-type and dog’s name on a check… I had the DL and whatnot down cold. Now, I have to think about what I’m doing on the few occasions I actually write checks. Between cell-phones and debit cards; amazing we even know our own names. Progress!
  4. Speaking of things I’d like to do or do more of in 2026…pickle ball and majong are not on my list. Is there anything that has exploded more in popularity lately than those two activities? Personally, I need to play the guitar more in 2026 and get back into reading more books. I’ve also thought about starting to collect something new this year. Have no idea what that might be. If any of y’all have any unique collections, let us know in the comments. Might spur us to action. I’ve got a solid collection of Texas History Books, caps and at one time historical maps – but I’ve given many away. What do y’all got? My wife will be thrilled about the idea of me having more “stuff”, I’m quite sure!
  5. We started 2025 around here with two dogs and two cats. We finished 2025 with two dogs and three cats. I’ll update y’all as the year goes on regarding animal acquisitions. Over/Under is 0.5 on adding an animal this year. I’d take the Over.
