5 Things We Know On A Sunday

  1. I really and truly do feel sorry for modern day Dallas Cowboys fans. It is sad that a once great franchise has become a punch-line in professional sports. Texas deserves better. Some of us knew this in 1989…My grandmother was right… never let someone from Arkansas buy the Dallas Cowboys. It won’t end up well. Always pay attention to Mammaw…..
  2. The bar had been lowered so much over the past few years, just seeing someone acting and behaving like a President of The United States can and should is shocking to some. Hopefully folks will realize it’s OK to aspire to great ideals and and then execute the plans necessary to make those ideals become reality. It can happen. We’ve see it before. Americans should feel empowered again just seeing a President willing and able to articulate and execute a strategy, vision and plan.
  3. Fact. Lubbock was a better city when it had an Orange Julius, Sam’s Burgers, The Skate Machine and Pizza Planet.
  4. I don’t know how smart chickens are… they don’t seem to be building many hospitals or shopping centers…but I do know that when you feed chickens they are really glad to see you and thankful for what they get. We could learn a thing or two from chickens. All of us have something to be thankful for today. So show a little gratitude to whomever needs it. Don’t cost nuthin’.
  5. Having worked in “the media” for well over thirty years now, I figure I’ve learned a few things… One of the worst things about the media these days… more and more reporters, writers, journalists, anchors and whatnot think They are the story. They’re not content with telling the story or reporting the facts. They must interject themselves into their “reporting” and “writing”. Nearly every story I hear on things like ABC Radio News or other outlets would have gotten an F grade from my professors at Texas Tech. The media has more than earned the scorn they have no from the public. They’ve earned the distrust and disdain that so many folks have for them and their outlets. Sadly, seeing how current graduates act, write and report coming out of schools these days, I don’t see a change any time soon. The media isn’t a victim of anything other than their own arrogance, hubris and stupidity. Luckily, Americans are finding more and more ways and outlets via social media ( which is now The Media ) to circumvent and render irrelevant the current Legacy Media. American aren’t stupid. When my friends in The Media relearn that, they may have a career that won’t end with the phrase, ” would you like fries with that…”.

  1. 3. We lose something when a local eatery, grocery store, or business that’s owned by a neighbor is no longer there and replaced with a faceless and nameless owner that doesn’t go through the same things the community does. Instead of going to a chain this week let’s all find a place that’s local to patron.
