Happy Thursday, Y’all !

The man who was once, nearly, almost the head coach at Texas Tech nailed the future of college football Wednesday at Big 12 Media Days in Frisco. West Virginia’s Rich Rodriguez, who was reportedly set to take the Texas Tech job in 2000 before his wife balked at the move, said what we’ve been saying for years about what the top schools should do.

“I think all that’s happened in college athletics, all the conference expansions and breakups has caused some of those traditional rivalries to go by the wayside,” Rodriguez said Wednesday. “I love the Big 12, but it’d be nice to have some regional (competition). … Can’t we all come together and shake hands and give each other a group hug. And then have an Eastern regional and a South regional and North regional and then everybody share the money, and there’s money for everybody and we can all get along. There’s like 60 of us (Power Four programs) or so, I think that’d be great.”

Rich Rod goes on to point out that it would bring back great regional rivalries and that folks and TV would love it. And he’s right.

The day is coming when some media exec is gonna show college presidents what that Super League payout would look like and it will be done. Heck, it might even make as much money as the Monster Deal the Big 12 just gacked up…

We thank Rich Rod for saying it out lout. Old coaches rock.

That of course wasn’t the only thing to come out of Day 2 of Big 12 Media Days. Cincinnati HC Scott Satterfield casually accused Texas Tech of major NCAA Violations for tampering with Brendan Sorsby. That school is now being investigated by the NCAA over his time with the Bearcats so we can see why he might be a little testy. As we said on the show last night, Cincy might better buckle-up. This investigation of Sorsby is far from over in our opinion and we think that’s one reason the NFL was so adamant publicly about him not joining the league this Summer. . .

We’ll talk about all of that and whatever else the news of the day brings us plus our nightly America 250 topic with y’all tonight on The Daily Broadcast.
