Happy Thursday, Y’all!
This Northern Lights thing we’ve got going on here in West Texas this week is really cool. It was harder to see last night around Raiderland World HQ than it was Tuesday, but we are seeing some awesome pics from around the area this morning. Keep posting ’em. I’m old enough to remember when Haley’s Comet came by back in 1986 or so. At my age, I figure I got a better shot of seeing cool stuff like the Northern Lights or Tech winning the Big 12 than I do on hanging around for the comet again!
Speaking of Texas Tech Football, we talked about it last night on The Daily Broadcast, but don’t get too attached to the number six ranking in the CFB Playoff ratings this week. One way or another, Texas Tech will go into the playoffs higher or lower, but not six. If Texas Tech wins out, they’ll be seeded third. The SEC and Big 10 will knock each other out of the top for by their title games. The committee will reward a 12-1 Big 12 champ at three. Now, if Tech loses the title game, they’ll still be in but around the ten line or so. All of this is predicated on Tech playing in the Big 12 title game. No title game, no playoff for Texas Tech.
The committee always gives themselves wiggle-room to adjust during these first few rankings. They’re smart. They know what the final rankings are most likely gonna look like given the projected outcomes right now. The spots are placeholders for conference winners. No more, no less. So for Texas Tech, just win baby.

Over, Under, Rated Right
On Thursdays, we get to rating things around Raiderland. You never know when someone might ask your opinion on a certain topic or subject and you need to be ready with your answers. Sometimes sports, sometimes not. Life is tricky.
This week we delve into the wonderful world of Rock & Roll. Specifically the classic rock era of the 1970s/80s.
Give us you overrated, underrated and rated right Rock Anthems All-Time!
Now, what’s a Rock Anthem? Good question. We know it when we hear it. It’s those songs everyone know and sings along with. Party starters. Songs that fire you up! Anthems.
Here’s a couple of examples and then you can fire away in the comments with songs of your own.
Over: “Stair Way To Heaven” – Led Zeppelin. Overplayed and you can find ten other songs by them that are better without having to try.
Under: “Fight The Good Fight” – Triumph. These Canadian rockers churned out a ton of great songs in the late 70s and early 80s. Could have gone with “Magic Power” as well for another underrated song.
Rated Right: “We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions” – Queen. It was perfect when it came out and it still is.
