Happy Monday, Y’all !

Hopefully everyone out there had a great weekend. If you were lucky enough to catch some of the rains over the last few days around West Texas, congrats! You’re playing on house money. Our AG producers need these showers to continue here and there during July. After the last few years, any rain is awesome.

While it was hot and windy Sunday, we took in some Savannah Bananas Ball at Raiderland World HQ. Obviously Banana Ball is taking over America when you have a 30-minute pregame show on ESPN2 and then a live Sunday window on Big ABC.

What we realized Sunday is that what we saw was not just Banana Ball, but a two-and-a-half hour commercial and promotion of Oregon Football/Sports. Playing another game in front of over 60K fans, the show was a great promotion for Oregon. Just like the George Strait concert in Lubbock promoted Texas Tech.

That’s why we say it’s vital that Texas Tech’s Jones Stadium host a Savannah Bananas game next “season”. The environment would be amazing. One night game and one day game and get it on ESPN. Have former players and celebs back. It would be a great way to promote Texas Tech and to continue the multi-use aspect of Jones Stadium. Jones Stadium should host a minimum of five major events every Spring/Summer. Maybe we can get Journey and REO Speedwagon in as well. 1979 Turn-Back The Clock Night!

What do y’all think? Are you in on Banana Ball at The Jones?

If you’re new to Raiderland or just missed the Friday night show, we had a lot of fun with our America 250 topic (more on that below). Give it a watch here and kill time at work this morning:

Get your questions and comments ready for tonight and go attack this Monday like a 7-year old going for ice cream on a hot summer day!

America 250

As y’all know from the Friday show, we’ve started our America 250 topics around here. Gonna be a big week for America. A week isn’t nearly enough to celebrate 250 years of American Exceptionalism. So, each night for the rest of July, we’re gonna feature the Greatest Things About America. We’ve got two different topics coming up on the Monday show. Haven’t completely decided yet which one we’re gonna use. Stay tuned though and we’ll let you know later in the day via Twitter/X for sure.

If you want, let us know in the comments below or on our social media pages what celebrations your town have planned for this week and weekend. Of course in Lubbock, it’s the annual 4th on Broadway time. I can remember when it got started in the early 90s and it exploded upon the Summer scene her. Biggest “FREE” celebration they called it. It kind of waned over the years, but now seems to be picking up some steam again. What about your town? Big or small? Let us know.
